Heywood Y. Epstein, M.D.
Dr. Heywood Epstein is a Board
Certified physician in Diagnostic Radiology with special competency in
Nuclear Medicine. His specialty is diagnostic radiology
particularly mammography, breast interventional procedures and
ultrasound.
The doctor received his B.A. at Harvard
University in Cambridge, MA and his M.D. at the State University of
New York – Downstate Medical Center. He did his residency
training in radiology at Montefiore Hospital in New York City.
Dr. Epstein has held the positions of
Attending Radiologist at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, NY
and Chief of Radiology at the US Public Health Services Hospital in
Staten Island, NY. Additionally, he was an Assistant Professor of
Radiology at NY University Hospital as well as at the Columbia
Presbyterian Hospital in New York.
Dr. H. Epstein is a Fellow of the
Nassau Academy of Medicine, and a Senior Member of the American
Institute for Ultrasound in Medicine. He is also a member of the
American Medical Association, the Society of Breast Imaging, the
American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North
America, the NY State Radiological Society, and the NY Roentgen Ray
Society
Dr. Epstein has published and lectured
in various areas of radiology. He was a founding member of the Long
Island Ultrasound Club and was the first LI physician to practice
stereotactic breast biopsy. Additionally, he devised the first
artificial hip created with computer aided design and manufacturing.
